Hole In The Ground

Update on the Wellington hole in the ground kidnapping and the Herald improves its article on Possum.

Party on.

Some time ago there was an incident where some dudes in Wellington allegedly planned to kidnap and or hold for ransom some "well known" business man Mr X (presumably a relation of Mr T).

"Police were alerted to the plot after Wellington Regional Council pest control officers found a purpose-built plywood bunker hidden under ferns in Rimutaka Forest."

Now I thought this was pretty skilled. Aside from hanging out near this bunker waiting for the guys to come along and party I was curious as to how the cops could have made any progress.

Today some of this was revealed (by the Herald) as the case of two of the three men detained is before the court. (The other is defending himself "with the help of a court assistant" which means IMHO that he is totally screwed)

From the article:

Police traced a block of cheese found in the bunker to a Lower Hutt supermarket and saw both accused on footage from the supermarket's security video.

Police then began 24-hour surveillance of the bunker and of the two accused, recording their phonecalls and trailing them between their Upper Hutt house, the bunker and Wellington, Mr Stone said.

The men made several trips to Wellington's Botanic Gardens where they were eventually arrested on July 22 last year, with Phillpott, whom the crown says drove the accused to Wellington.

I rate this excellent. They traced a block of cheese? Good job.

Update: Last nights rant was I'm sure directly responsible for this on Possum's condition.
