The power crises(tm) is over.
I know this because all three lifts in this COMS building are fully armed and operational. Which is nice, because I'm fat and stiars are hard. Actually I thought they should just keep one lift, and force us bastards to climb the stairs. Stupid people could still wait ages for a lift, and I would get fitter. Also, it would save the school $$ and that would be passed on to me. Except it wouldn't be passed on to me, because they are also bastards. Also, why did we not get more laughs out of the fact that the leader of the electricity taskforce is called Dr Strange? I mean really.
Also, Clay who came second has outsold RUBEN who came first. What a fickle world. (For Waz and Bhumi who care)
France is back to sucking, speciffically with regards to the CAP. Mmmm CAP.
Personally I find this very amusing. Metallica were anti little Napster bunnies, but now they bow before the Internet, and the power of the market. Or not, but they have defintly done a u-turn.
In July of 2000, the band’s drummer, Danish-born Lars Ulrich, appeared before Congress to testify against the menace of unauthorized file sharing, saying, “It’s clear, then, that if music is free for downloading, the music industry is not viable; all the jobs … will be lost and the diverse voices of the artists will disappear.” Now the Metallica Vaults site exhorts fans to “Download, Burn, Share, Kick Ass.”
So that is nice.
But what is really important is the fact that their new album St. Anger (well actually only the single from the album of the same name) or Stanger as we know it, really does suck. It is just a crappy song. Which is a shame, because some of their songs kick ass. Maybe I'll just pirate those ones, and leave this new one to die horribly.
In other pirating news, behold the power of it. A few months ago someone who shall remain nameless burnt me a copy of Bic's new album. I listened to it, and found that it was good. Time passed (as it does) and I still played it, usually in the morning whilst getting up and decided it was still good.
Then she released a doulbe CD bonus edition, with other goodies. Amongst these bonus goodies was another song that I had only heard after "Princess Cool" (sigh) had downloaded. Ah, I thought, that would be cool, I should go and buy it. And so I did. Net profit to Bic almost soley due to piracy 1% of $24.95, but it is more than she would have got, and net profit to the RIANZ heaps more.
Also, Sony has finally given me more of what I want, but not yet enough. It is a sub $500 discman that can play mp3s and does not force me into using the bollox format that is ATRAC3. A pox on it. However I think I have become even more enamoured with iPOD action. I will buy it post thesis (shutup) and have it engraved with "Luther - MA (Pols)" That will be cool.
I will also be cool.
Also, Mediawhore.co.nz is back. Did this happen ages ago, and I have simply failed to notice? The answer is no, and the reason that I refound the page (that for a long time was absent) is due to the power of google, that had a cached link to something I was looking for, but which I followed and was led to an all new and improved whore. So that is nice.
Oh, and whilst waiting for Harry Enfield's Brand Spanking New Show (almost certainly TM) we were all lucky enough to see this little banner. Nicely reproduced for us by the good people of TV1. Good job to the TV3 guy that was fooling around on that one. Poor job to anyone that feels that they were correctly labelled by the "surprised and confused" comment that the Herald has claimed. I imagine people were suprised, and confused over the matter, but unfortunately it seems to be carrying with it connotations that it is somehow bad or wrong for people to be in that state. We wouldn't want to suprise people, and we really wouldn't want to confuse people. Confusing people is bad. Sod off.
That is all. Oh, come to the party, tonight at the Volcano Set. (Map, Zoomed)
