Mutiny with Sisal!

Sara has a house. w00t. We have painted the hell out of it, and now it is more mighty than it was. Significantly so.

Went out for dinner on Wednesday to celebrate purchase, and met MMWC, organised gaming action. Tony's is mighty.

Arose, for mission action, gathered paints from various locals, and got the keys, then went all medieval on house. People came around, we had pizza and then Spacefarers of CATAN! Oh yes, for Mary had brought space action.

We played, Ben and I, with Will and Mary, and it is great for you have giant(-ish) rockets as dice, and ray guns with which to bedeck your ship, as well as little yellow booster rockets and stuff. It sure looks gay. (Also, behold the many many variants of Catan now available, including
The Trojan War, Alexander the Great and The Great Wall of China. Oooo.

Mary also mentioned that there is pocket travel Catan. I will get that, so that we may all go and play in cafes and bars around Europe. Tres Geek. Although, perhaps not as much as wearing this shirt. Maybe though, I'm not sure. Starfarers is cool, but the map is not random (much) and overall it ain't got nothing on good old Cities and Knigits.

Friday saw more painting, (as did Sat, and Sun) and the watching by Ben and I of the Holy Grail DVD. It is good, and has much bonus stuff.

Sat saw us arrive at the party (last) of Picton. As organised by Ben. Muddled around some (Ben had laso provided for me in the form of the Stolli Fairy) before going into town for George's going to Canada party.

Had a series of hilarous and memorable exploits, which culminated in the sacking of Ashburton.

Had a stupid experience with the bar people over getting myself a drink. Was angling for the Midori Splice that was sampled at Sammi's on New Years. But was denied. (Ben has provided the ingredients at Picton, but they are for post thesis (sigh) action)

Eventually a discussion with the bar keep seemed to result in me having the drink I wanted prepared. Alas, he was a fool, and or mental. Halfway through making it he warned me it might be slightly more choclatey than I was expecting.

Huh? I was not expecting it to be at all choclatey given that it contains Midori, Yellow Galliano (and or Triple Sec (or Malibu accoring to the Webtender I guess that any amount of choclate would be more than I was epxecting.

As it happended, the drink I ended up with was completely lacking in pineapple juice, and with kahlua and choclate sprinkles. Muh?! Seriously I don't know what the hell happened, suffice to say, that bar the existence of cream in the drink, I think it had nothing in common with aforementioned Midori Splice.

Maybe it is all in my mind, as the last time we visited Sammi's the scowly bar wench told me that they didn't do my drink at all, that they never had, and that I was obviously a complete nut job. Didn't bother arguing with her. She was very scowly.

Walked home through the park, (as we do) and Ben was completely confused as to our location, at one point demanding that we walk towards moorhouse ave. Eventually persuaded him that the hospital we were standing next to, was in fact The hospital. I guess it is to many nights of walking via the Armagh St entrance to the park.

Adam got older on Friday, but went away, so missed out on presents at the Picton party. (more for me)

Warning: The Pirate Party may have been postponed to January...

On painting, I must say that the house is so much more mighty, that I can really see how and why people buy houses, do them up some, then sell them for mucho money. It is incredible the effect of some paint, and some cleaning on this house. Oh yes. When once it had ugly old wall paper of various styles (photos coming) it now has wicky painted rocking. And all it has taken is four days, and a few hundred dollars worth of paint. Oh yes, it is better. I'm sure it could be sold for significantly more now, than a few weeks ago, and we could still do more. And we aren't even master builder/painter types, we are joe public. (OK so Sara is art girl, and has painting skills, but I certainly am joe painter, and even I did not suck at painting, in fact painting ceilings and walls was much easier than I had anticipated)

Fe, my office mate is doing a survey as part of her thesis. It is on "Attitudes to Health Core Priorities" Essentially she is looking at the attitude of people (both in the medical community, and general public) towards the funding of health care, especially attitudes towards the funding of health care for the elderly. A letter today arrived from Age Concern expressing concern over the "study and some of the questions in it." Pretty good given that she has only sent out 300, half of which went to the medical community. Oh well.

Fe is also finding that an annoying number of people are choosing (it seems rather than mistakenly missing) not to answer some questions (some even commenting that they are to controversial.) This is silly. One, it is anonymous, and two, it is important, and duh. of course it is controversial.

Want to get people excited? Discuss the true costs of health care, and how it gets allocated. It is a world of pain. Bob taught us that, and I will try desperately hard to never have a job involving those issues. They are teh suck.

Muh.

Also, respect Dulux One Coat Ceiling. For it is the ceiling paint of wang. For, like it says, it needs only one coat. And that is wicked. Sisal, is also a fab colour.
