Well Have A Nap

Spotted on Fark today, The Effects of a Global Thermonuclear War
4th edition: escalation in 1988
described in the introduction as "an approximate description of the effects of a global nuclear war. For the purposes of illustration it is assumed that a war resulted in mid-1988 from military conflict between the Warsaw Pact and NATO." It is somewhat long, but interesting reading. And we come out all right in the end. Mmmm tiny nation.

Oh, Yeah! The library sucks major arse. Today I was fined $21 for failing to bring my books back on Friday. I acknowledge that yes, infact, they were overdue, and so that was bad.

BUT.

Nobody wanted these books, I brought them into the building today, returned them, and reissued them all. So really what did the $21 achieve. Nothing, it wasn't telling me "hey someone wants one of your books real bad, better bring it in" it was simply saying, "hey, you've had this book for sometime, and we need to see it NOW" No they didn't. The difference between them seeing it on Friday, and seeing it today is minimal, and yet it cost me $21. This sucks. Fuckers.

Another thing that sucks is NZ Idol. I mean really what a crock.

Bubonic plague? Global thermonuclear war is a bad time. I think it best avoided.
Love the guy in the opening paragraph with his 'it's all blown out of proportion, there's no reason scientifically to expect the end of the human race. (Only most of it)'. Well, hurrah.
We are a world power in 2040 though. Sweet. I'll be 63 years old and general in charge of our forces defending our pristine shores from desperate American mutants.

You didn't make the shortlist, huh?

Still, as the Big Man himself says, "You shall make no graven image or any likeness of anything in heaven or earth, nor bow down to any such thing." -- So good work there.

If only you had off asked a "librarian" that you know before returning the books, said $21 could have been saved. Now that you have gone and got yourself fined......it is out of my hands
