In response to me, The Press says:
Subject: FW: Query on capitalisation
From: Michael.Vance@press.co.nz

To: me@school.ac.nzDear Mr Street,
The newspaper's style on acronyms is to render them as words if it is common practice to say the acronym as a word. If it is not able to be pronounced, it remains in capitals.

Well that answers that question. I disagree with their policy, and as such will declare it hippy, and possibly question their collective educations. Obviously (apparently) I make grammatical, spelling and chronological mistakes all the time, but I'm not a newspaper. They are, and they should do better. However at least they did (eventually) respond. Which was nice.
In other news, I originally (possibly subconciously ironically? (no, just thicky)) spelt 'their' as 'there,' and I have to say that I don't see no I before no E going on there. (Any comments on soft 'h's or some such rubbish will be foomed. Personally I'm blaming English Language Anarchists (ELA))
In other other news, Sara hired a chainsaw and we cut down a tree. Take that "nature."
ELA: (n) Coined by one C. Eason, who watched as I totally stole it from her, but failed to notice. Unfortunately she then read this, and suggests I should acknowledge her. But I'm not going to, no sir-ee.

Posted by: Dave on May 29, 2004 05:04 PM'Grammer', yes. Correct spelling, apparently not.
Fear the power of ENGLISH NERD!
Posted by: Cardinal on May 30, 2004 04:09 AMI claim "English Anarchists" as my intellectual property. Hands off!! Or at least acknowledge the source of these pearls of wit and wisdom.
