Not EURO 2004, But Not Shabby

Soccer yesterday saw the AMPC up against Bastards. I'm sure they like to think of it as being B'stard, but you know, they are wrong.

So we played them last week, played them again yesterday, and due to an odd draw will be playing them again next week.

Last week we were 2-0 at half time before falling to a 2-2 draw. Luckily, we didn't actually mess up enough to lose.

Last night, we were down 3-2 at half time (I think) but managed to storm back to a mightily convincing 6-3 smack down by the full time whistle. Aided by an incredible goal by me. Incredible because I'm a defence player, who can't kick, and also because when I did, I scored from halfway. Suck on that opposition.

A good game was had by all (of us) and in their faces. Special mention goes to a number of their players who for some reason choose to shake hands with their left hand twisted around to it almost works when we shake hands (at the end of the game) with our right.

They (or at least one of them did) claim something about an injured hand. Which would be OK, if it wasn't that about half the team does it. We are not sure what the hell is going on. Could be that it is some form of insult/protest, but given that we have no idea what the hell they are doing, it is hardly effective.

Certainly odd.

The point is that I scored a goal from halfway, and it was awesome. And we won, which was also awesome.

i often do left hand shakes, mostly because i am right handed, so if i am busy and/or have a pen, it will be in my right hand. and i am often busy.

Really? Interesting. I remember when I was about 10 going around to my friends house and at some stage being introduced to some friend of his older brother. When I met him I reached out to shake his hand, and he stared at it for a few seconds, before declining. Turns out I had reached out with my dominant (left) hand, and this was a terrible social faux pas. "Everyone" knows that homosexuals shake hands with their left hands, because they are woman, and you know, this is part of their club.

I never really understood that as a child, given that woman shake hands with their right hands anyway.

And I still don't understand, but I did contemplate this after those soccer games.
