R.E.M. NZ

So REM are coming to New Zealand and this is most awesome. Even better is the fact that they will be coming to Christchurch, rather than a poxy "Auckland and Wellington only" kind of tour.

But no.

They aren't going to "Auckland and Wellington," not even "Auckland and Christchurch." Oh no. Someone has gone a tad nutty and they will be playing Christchurch and New Plymouth....? (surprisingly cool website...)

WTF.

Anyway, if you don't believe it, read it yourself.

Also - COME PLAY HOCKEY YOU BASTARDS.

We can be found herein.

Today we will be playing Fat Bottomed Girls, and they will no doubt kick our arse. What with some people (Claire) claiming she has to work, or something. Somepeople (Bishy) claiming they have to write their final honours essay by tomorow (or something), and somepeople (Karen) being "so sick if she played hockey she might actually die" or something. (or so they say (not actually die, I made that bit up)) Anyway, Si has pointed out that this will be embarressing.

So I'm going to slash the tyres on their bycycles.

There is however one team we WILL be beating.

Oh yes.

Magivers Elite Muppet Dream Team

Not only have they spelt MacGyver wrong, but they missed the apostrophe. (Don't blame the Hockey guys, we got our apostrophe no problems)

They will be defeated.

Terry Pratchett has a new book, and will be in Auckland, trying to find out if he will be coming here.

Alfred Spangler is dead. Moist von Lipwig, formerly known as Alfred Spangler, is presented with a choice: certain death or reviving the Ankh-Morpork post office. Lord Vetinari is persuasive, and Moist is an intelligent if dishonest fellow, so he finds himself with a job and a golem for a parole officer.

Entitled Going Postal. Nice.

Finally, who is pro pooling our resources to get a box for REM? It can't cost too much and we could you know, spit on the plebs and stuff. Generally wank about etc. Would be cool. TBALC Soiree 2005 I say. Of course I also support any one individual winning lotto and splurging out for TBALC Karmic rewards.

Over.

Updated: Oh, sorry. Didn't notice Claire was way ahead of me. Even if she thought Palmerston North was New Plymouth.

Whats really going to knot your jocks is that I finished ridiculously early, and as of 8.30 pm am sitting in my office eating lasagne and listening to tunes. But also doing work. Oh the joys of the research job.

You missed out a rolicking good game. The Alpacas would be proud. Not of us, necessarily Those girls on the other team had quite a lot of talent.

I'd just like to give Tim some kudos for his use and spelling of the word 'Soiree' in the above post. If he hadn't given me a glorious goal-scoring pass, I would be obliged to say that his first attempt at spelling it was 'swaree'. So I won't say that.

I did know that that was not correct. I simply used it to illicit the correct spelling from you, my spelling of Soiree bitch.

And I did pass it to you, so HEY! Wait a minute.
