I'm the veritable sports billy now, what with my three different codes spread across four different nights oh yes.
Wednesday night netball saw us come second, and begin once more, into another season.
Wednesday night soccer has seen an entire division (the division of Shame) formed to allow the team to sink to its rightful place in the silt. Surprisingly this has meant that we don't seem to get beaten as much, and in fact, I believe last week we would have been top of our (sucky) division had we only won the game, instead of not. This wouldn't even have been "winning" in the form of first out of two teams, there seem to have been some other teams added to our lowly grade, probably to make up numbers, and probably pulled in off the street, while they requested directions to somewhere that this sentence just can't come up with a location for.
Sunday night soccer has suffered through a recent spate of losses at the hands of any number of teams, however, the reason for this became somewhat clearer when Nic noticed we had somehow been re-elevated to Div 1. Which is just silly. However, our string of losses will no doubt see us return to Div 2, where we shall rule over at as God-Kings.
Friday night netball has started up again. This is the day of netball which is somewhat more serious than the other nights, (which are all, whatever the division, classed as "social" (I'm not sure why)) which is indicated by the wearing of uniforms.
Now as I think I've discussed before, I'm the man, especially when it comes to netball. Not super world class guy, but not a complete hunk + taller than you = Netball superstar. (Unless I'm getting the smack put down on me, by someone with actual skills) And the team I'm in pretty much consists of some people + me. Where me is going to score the goals. This is not to say everyone else in the team is crap, but let's face it, in netball, being tall is a rather insurmountable advantage. Moving along to my point, um. Well, the team is essentially the same as it has been for three years now, and I think we are actually getting worse. Two players in particular, through no fault of their own. And it is beginning, no it IS, pissing me off. The perils of team sport? No not really, more the perils of not changing teams, and moving into a better one, which I could have done, but didn't. I regret that move. Last year we came third, this year I see a fourth looming, or possibly another third, but definitly no winning us. Which is lame, but then again Peru isn't likely to win the Rugby World Cup anytime soon, and that is simply being realistic. Still, I can whinge can't I? I like to think so.
On review, that is more pointless, and whiney than I had planned. But tough.
Finally we have Tuesday night hockey, which see the as yet un triumphant return of Alpaca's Pride to the world of unprofessional sports. What was a six aside netball team has been transformed thanks to the addition of hockey sticks into a six aside hockey team. Huzzah.
We suck pretty bad. We have lost three out of three games, with the opponents scoring around 10 points a game. Our only honour can be found in out scoring of one, and only one goal per game. It would obviously be better if we scored more, but that will take some time.
More on hockey as it comes to hand.
Additionally, Sara has increased her power to smack me upside my head. Last Saterday we want along to Kung Fu (fighting) grading and Sara was elevated from lowly white belt to almost as lowly, but not so bad yellow belt. But still this is good.
Finally, today I kicked open a door. Admittedly it was our front door, and I was only doing it because the door mechanism was broken. But still it was a pretty good feeling to walk up to a door and kick it down (err open).
Rocking.
